Baipo Thai Restaurant. How many other Thai Restaurants have you tried, The Baipo in my opion is excellent, knocks spots of the Ruan Thai in Colchester, both in quality and price. It may lack atmosphere but it is a very popular haunt to us foodies in the locale. Maybe you should try it again.P.S.we are going to the new THai Dragon restaurant on East Hill in Colchester tomorrow maybe I will let you know how it compares. The Ruan Thai further up the hill really is overpriced and not a patch on the Baipo.

Rose & Crown Hotel, Eastgates, Colchester.Have you tried this one the guy who runs it used run 'Francos' on East Hill (now the Ruan Thai) this is excellent whether you go for a bar meal or the full blown jobbie in the restaurant. Italian food at its best in these parts. OK so its not cheap but oooohhhhh!! its worth it. Give it a try sometime.

A traditional English Pub with a delightful "old world" dinning room. The meals are created by us and are truly home cooked. They consist of the very best quality produce which allow us to say that we are among the best of the Pubs in East Anglia.

La Talbooth, very expensive, allow for a dry cleaning bill as the last time we went they spilled soup over one of us and red winne over the other. Offered to pay for the cleaning on production of a receipt!

Had a rather poor meal in Mortimers on the Quay yesterday. May be a one off, but both our main dishes were overcooked (very easy with fish!) and the service rather slow and inefficient. Given that we only had two glasses of wine (between the two of us), I felt that £36 was a bit steep for two courses and the poor cooking. Won't be rushing back.

Scotts Brasserie, IpswichExcellent food / wine and great service. Nice atmosphere with two floor and quiet bar area. Usually quiet before 7:30 so a great place to go before the cinema or theatre.

I took my sister to the Flame Lily in Lavenham last week. I have been previously, about a eighteen months ago.It seems to have changed ownership and there were a number of annoyances with the place - the service was slow, the 'specials' boardwere not available at lunchtime. I was not overly impressed with the quality of the pasta I had.RegardsPeter Knight

Woodbridge has many good places to eat, but I think the Captains Table is the best and in fact it won either a Guardian or Observer recommendation in its price range in 1999. Being Woodbridge it can be a trifle 'stuffy' - this is not the location for an office party - but the food is wonderfully cooked and very reasonable - £15 for the most expensive main course. No smoking inside - in the summer there are tables outside. Seafood very good.

You have a listing for the Froize Inn, Chillesford, dating from 1998. You may therefore be interested to know that the pub has just changed hands and the new owners are busy renovating the pub ready to re-open on 1 June 2002. David Grimwood built up an excellent reputation at the Old Chequers, Friston, and looks forward to welcoming new and old friends! Call him on 01394 450282 for more details.

The Galley Ipswich. We visited on Saturday evening and were very disappointed. Food was nothing special, service was poor and amateurish and ambience was awful. Inside the restaurant it is extremely crowded and, although we had prebooked and were told we could sit out in the garden area if the weather was fine (it was) we were offered a choice of tables inside - an extremely cramped table right next to the open kitchen hatch (stifling hot) or another cramped table next to it. You would not be able to have a relaxing meal at either of these tables, with waiters brushing past and the noise, heat and smells from the kitchen right beside you. We declined and waited for a table to come free in the garden as we were promised. We were then given an afterthought of a table right next to the air conditioning uni

I'm surprised it hasn't already been listed because I really do recommend visiting. It's always an enjoyable experience for me and I can't wait to go next. They're also great for office parties! we had ours at Chinoz not long ago and were delighted by the open buffet the staff had specially laid out for us. So, I definitely recommend it to you!

Thanks for a very useful page! But please note that The Ship at Levington is now run by the former chef of the Angel at Stoke-by-Nayland, and is now head-and-shoulders above the "basic pub grub" level on quality - but the prices are low for that level -- it's a Les Routiers. Don't know what the Angel is like nowadays, though.More entries: the Queen's Head at Erwarton has good pub food and a very pleasant atmosphere. The Fox at Newbourne has very very good pub food, some unusual recipes, and big portions.

The GalleryI went to the Gallery on the 27th of October and was very dissapointed. I had the Quail for starters and the Duck for the main course. They both tasted exactly the same, and all i could taste was paprika and garlic. I was not impressed and would not recommend it. Th service was slow and we were continuously asked if we wished for wine, which we did not. I thought the bill for £50+ did not do justice for the food we received.
